Emerging metal sculptor Johnny Chen is holding his first solo exhibition, showcasing distinctive metal artworks with a unique artistic flair.
The exhibition features 25 meticulously handcrafted sculptures covering diverse themes including Feng Shui, abstract art, endemic species of Taiwan, and equestrian history. These pieces reflect Chen’s profound appreciation for Taiwan’s natural ecology and culture. Additionally, the exhibition highlights a sculpture inspired by Harley-Davidson motorcycles, perfectly illustrating the fusion of metal art with modern industrial aesthetics.
Through “Purple Butterfly Valley,” Johnny Chen expresses his deep appreciation for Taiwan’s beauty, emphasizing the island’s rich geographical diversity and natural landscapes, and inviting the audience to engage in ecological conservation and appreciate natural value. His “Equestrian” sculptures demonstrate his passion for Taiwan’s equestrian traditions, while “Flowers and Porcelain” captures fond memories of his mother, vividly illustrating the beauty of everyday life.
“Tribal Atlas” delves into Taiwan’s indigenous cultures, awakening pride in local heritage, while “Ferns” represents his love for native plant life. “Tree of the World” symbolizes how technology and the internet bring people closer, advocating harmony and coexistence. Lastly, the sculpture titled “Fortune” embodies calligraphic art, aiming to rekindle appreciation for traditional Chinese script and celebrating the charm of antique artistry.
“Everyone experiences life differently and views the world from unique perspectives. I aim to portray meaningful and promising beauty that I’ve observed growing up in Taiwan,” says Johnny Chen. His art seamlessly blends tangible beauty into daily life through creative expression.
